GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi strongly condemned the terrorist bombing that targeted a café in Damascus, Syria, killing and injuring a number of innocent civilians.
He reaffirmed the GCC’s full solidarity with Syria in safeguarding its security and stability, reiterating the bloc’s firm rejection of terrorism and all acts of violence aimed at undermining peace and security.
Albudaiwi also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The Muslim World League (MWL) condemned the terrorist bombing that targeted a cafe near the Palace of Justice in the Syrian capital, Damascus, the Saudi Press Agency said on Friday.
In a statement MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa reiterated the MWL’s rejection of violence and terrorism in all forms and under all pretexts. He expressed solidarity with Syria in confronting anything that threatens its security, stability, and the safety of its people.
Al-Issa offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the Syrian people, praying to Allah Almighty for mercy for the deceased and a speedy recovery for the injured.
Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah held separate phone calls on Thursday with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto, the Saudi Press Agency said.
During his call with Dar, the two ministers reviewed developments in the negotiations between the United States and Iran, particularly the latest round of talks held in Doha, Qatar. They expressed satisfaction with the positive progress achieved and voiced hope that the negotiations would lead to a peaceful and comprehensive solution to the conflict in the region.
In his conversation with Gil Pinto, Prince Faisal conveyed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the government and people of Venezuela over the victims of the two earthquakes that struck the country. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Venezuela and its people during this difficult time, expressed the Kingdom’s readiness to provide the necessary support and assistance to those affected, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi stated that the extraordinary meeting of the GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee comes to follow up on and discuss the outcomes of implementing the directives of the leaders of the GCC states at their 19th consultative meeting, held in Jeddah on April 28, 2026, and to develop recommendations aimed at strengthening energy supply chains among the GCC states.
This came during the extraordinary meeting of the GCC Petroleum Cooperation Committee, held on Thursday via videoconference, chaired by Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, with the participation of the energy ministers in the GCC states, SPA reported.
The secretary-general affirmed that this meeting reflects the keenness of the leaders of the GCC states to strengthen joint GCC action in the energy sector, as one of the main pillars of sustainable economic development, in a manner that contributes to enhancing energy security, ensuring the sustainability of its supplies, and raising the efficiency of integration among the GCC states in this vital sector.
Albudaiwi also expressed gratitude and appreciation to the ministers for their continued efforts and support for the work of the committee, as well as for their joint work and coordination to support the journey of GCC integration, strengthen energy security, and ensure the sustainability of supply chains, in a manner that serves the interests of the GCC states and meets their future aspirations.
